Welp, I was doing so well with a low histamine, Autoimmune Protocol (AIP) diet after what I deemed terrible lab results from the week prior, just to throw it all away with one bad decision.
After a virtual appointment reviewing those results with my doctor, and me verbalizing my game plan from then until (at least) my next appointment in four weeks, I exited our bedroom (the pandemic Zoom Room) and excitedly told my husband the good news: my results weren’t as bad as I thought they were! We hugged, chatted briefly, then he informed me that his brother invited him out to lunch. I teasingly said, “I wanna go out to lunch,” and winked.
“Do you want to come?” my husband said. “I’m sure [brother-in-law] will be fine with it.”
I hesitated, because eating a low histamine diet outside the home is impossible, but the restaurant selected was farm-to-table, and my doctor told me stress was the biggest factor I needed to avoid; and stressing about perfectly adhering to an extremely restrictive diet is worse than not doing the diet at all.
So I decided, yes, I would go if [brother-in-law] didn’t mind.
And he didn’t.
